Each 32 x 32 embroidered piece of fabric is a one-of-a-kind creation done by our amazing artisans. Each artisan was invited to create a design that held personal significance and inspiration for them while sharing a heartfelt note about the story behind their artwork. This is what the creator, Andrea Perez Juarez, wrote about her piece:
“Yo bordé esto porque fue el primer trabajo que aprendimos desde pequeñas. Conocíamos las flores de margaritas porque siempre ha sido una tradición que todas nosotras, como mujeres de nuestra comunidad, estamos acostumbradas a hacer blusas con bordado de las flores de margaritas. Por eso hice este trabajo de flores de margaritas. Es lo que más me gusta hacer de este arte de bordar.”
“I embroidered this because it was the first project we learned as children. We knew the daisy flowers because it has always been a tradition that all of us, as women in our community, are accustomed to making blouses with embroidery of daisies. That’s why I did this work with daisy flowers. It’s what I enjoy most about the art of embroidery.”
