These clay angels (3.5” tall) are handmade and fired in a wood oven. NB: Each angel is unique, with different styles of dress, accessories, and position of wings. Some of the angels are holding drums, some have hands in prayer, and some are holding clarinets or guitars. These angels have intricate details, like delicate hands, and expressions on their faces. Angela Vasquez is known for her work with stone and volcanic ash. She is from Atzompa, Oaxaca, and has developed a process known as “agobes” for giving her pieces different colors. Instead of painting, she uses naturally colored substances to produce color and texture.
