DETAILS

Each 32 x 32 embroidered piece of fabric is a one-of-a-kind creation done by our amazing artisans. Each artisan was invited to create a design that held personal significance and inspiration for them while sharing a heartfelt note about the story behind their artwork. This is what the creator, Claudia Patricia Perez Vasquez, wrote about her piece:

“The fire represents what we use to cook beans and make tortillas. The old house is made of clay and tiles, which represent our town. I have seen this turkey in neighborhoods of the community, and that gave me the idea to embroider it. We plant the cornfield for our own consumption. The sun, which rises in the morning, inspired me to embroider it in the piece.”
